Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes, peeled
  • 1 small Onion, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Potato Starch
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable Oil

Original measure retained: its cup/spoon or fluid-volume standard is unspecified.

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the 4 medium Potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Grate the 1 small Onion as well.
  2. 2Place the grated potato and onion mixture into a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze out as much liquid as possible from the mixture.
  3. 3In a bowl, combine the squeezed potato and onion mixture with the 2 tablespoons of Potato Starch, the 1 large Egg, the 1 teaspoon of Salt, and the 0.5 teaspoon of Black Pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. 4Pour the 0.5 cup of Vegetable Oil into a large skillet. Heat the oil over medium-high heat, reaching approximately 175°C.
  5. 5Carefully drop rounded spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil. Gently flatten each spoonful with the back of your spoon to form pancakes.
  6. 6Fry the pancakes for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side. They are done when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  7. 7Remove the cooked potato pancakes from the skillet using a slotted spoon or spatula. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  8. 8Serve the potato pancakes hot.
