Ful Medames (Egyptian Fava Bean Dip)

A hearty and flavorful Egyptian breakfast staple, also great as a snack or appetizer. Made with mashed fava beans, lemon juice, and spices.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Canned Fava Beans
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • to taste Hot Sauce

Instructions

  1. 1Drain and rinse the fava beans.
  2. 2In a saucepan, combine fava beans, minced garlic, lemon juice, cumin, and salt.
  3. 3Cook over medium heat, mashing the beans with a fork, until heated through and slightly thickened.
  4. 4Stir in olive oil and chopped parsley.
  5. 5Serve warm, drizzled with extra olive oil and hot sauce to taste.
