Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast
  • 0.75 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 cups Plant-Based Milk
  • 0.5 cup Vegan Butter
  • 0.5 cup Vegan Butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. 2Warm the plant-based milk and melt the vegan butter in it. Let it cool slightly.
  3. 3Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled.
  6. 6Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long strip and coil it into a spiral shape.
  7. 7Place the ensaymada on a baking sheet and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  8. 8Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. 9While still warm, brush the tops with softened vegan butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
