Buckwheat Pancakes (Bliny Gryczane) with Apple Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Buckwheat Flour
  • 0.25 cup Potato Starch
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 0.25 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 1 cup Apple Sauce

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 cup of buckwheat flour, 0.25 cup of potato starch, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 0.25 tsp of salt until well combined.
  2. 2Gradually add the 1 cup of water to the dry ingredients while whisking continuously until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.
  3. 3Stir in the 2 tbsp of canola oil until it is fully incorporated into the batter.
  4. 4Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat, around 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side, until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges look set.
  6. 6Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the second side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. 7Serve the warm buckwheat pancakes immediately with the 1 cup of apple sauce.
