Ingredients

  • about 450 g Fresh Green Beans
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Original measure retained: its cup/spoon or fluid-volume standard is unspecified.

Instructions

  1. 1Wash the about 450 g Fresh Green Beans. Trim off the tough ends. Cut the green beans into 2.54 cm pieces.
  2. 2Place a large pot on the stove over medium heat (approximately 176.7°C / 175°C). Add the 1/4 cup Olive Oil.
  3. 3Add the 1 medium Onion, which has been chopped, to the pot. Sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion pieces look soft and see-through.
  4. 4Add the 2 medium Tomatoes, which have been diced, and the 2 cloves Garlic, which have been minced, to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes begin to break down slightly.
  5. 5Add the about 450 g Fresh Green Beans (cut into 2.54 cm pieces), 1 tsp Sugar, 1/2 tsp Salt, and 1/4 tsp Black Pepper to the pot. Stir everything well to make sure the green beans are coated.
  6. 6Lower the heat to low (approximately 93.33°C / 95°C). Cover the pot with a lid. Let the mixture simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the green beans are tender when poked with a fork.
  7. 7Remove the pot from the heat. Let the green beans cool down completely to room temperature, which might take about 1 hour. Alternatively, you can cover the pot and place it in the refrigerator to chill until cold before serving.
