Ingredients

  • about 450 g Green Beans
  • 0.25 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper

Original measure retained: its cup/spoon or fluid-volume standard is unspecified.

Instructions

  1. 1Prepare the about 450 g Green Beans by trimming off the tough ends.
  2. 2Heat the 0.25 cup Olive Oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat (about 176.7°C or 175°C). Add the 1 medium Onion, chopped, and the 2 cloves Garlic, minced, and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3Add the about 450 g Green Beans and the 2 medium Tomatoes, chopped, to the pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes begin to soften and break down, about 10 minutes.
  4. 4Stir in the 1 tsp Sugar, the 0.5 tsp Salt, and the 0.25 tsp Black Pepper until well combined.
  5. 5Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the green beans simmer gently for 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender when pierced with a fork. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your green beans.
  6. 6Remove the pot from the heat and let the Zeytinyagli Fasulye cool slightly for about 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.
