Ingredients

  • 1 cup Tapioca Flour (Granular)
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Vegan Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Original measure retained: its cup/spoon or fluid-volume standard is unspecified.

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup of Tapioca Flour and the 2 cups of Water. Whisk them together until the mixture is completely smooth.
  2. 2Add the 1/2 cup of Vegan Parmesan Cheese, the 1 teaspoon of Salt, and the 1/2 teaspoon of Black Pepper to the saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the mixture thickens considerably and pulls away from the sides of the pan, forming a cohesive ball.
  3. 3Lightly grease a square or rectangular dish. Transfer the thickened tapioca mixture into the prepared dish. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to press the mixture down evenly, filling the dish completely.
  4. 4Allow the tapioca mixture in the dish to cool down to room temperature. Once it has cooled, cover the dish and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is firm to the touch. This chilling step is important to make it easy to cut.
  5. 5Once the tapioca mixture is firm, carefully cut it into small cubes, about 1.27 cm in size.
  6. 6Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil to the skillet. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the tapioca cubes to the hot oil. Fry the cubes for about 5 to 8 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. 7Remove the crispy tapioca cubes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve the Dadinhos de Tapioca immediately while they are warm and crispy.
