Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bacon
  • 1/2 medium Green Cabbage
  • 1 cup Apple Cider
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper

Original measure retained: its cup/spoon or fluid-volume standard is unspecified.

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to about 205°C (200°C).
  2. 2Cut the 1/2 medium green cabbage into 2.54 cm pieces. Thread the bacon slices and cabbage pieces alternately onto skewers, making sure to use all the bacon and cabbage.
  3. 3In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup apple cider, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. Add the 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  4. 4Bring the mixture in the saucepan to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. 5Place the prepared skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. 6Using a brush, coat the skewers evenly with some of the thickened apple cider glaze.
  7. 7Bake the skewers in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. You will know they are done when the bacon is crispy and cooked through, and the cabbage is tender when pierced with a fork.
  8. 8Remove the skewers from the oven and brush them with the remaining apple cider glaze just before serving.
