Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Short-grain rice
  • 6 cups Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Anise seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Sunflower Seeds (optional substitution)

Instructions

  1. 1Rinse the rice and place it in a large pot with water.
  2. 2Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the rice is very soft.
  3. 3Add sugar, anise seeds, caraway seeds, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  4. 4Continue to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pudding thickens.
  5. 5Pour the pudding into serving bowls.
  6. 6Garnish with shredded coconut and walnuts or sunflower seeds.
  7. 7Let cool before serving.
