Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Butter (unsalted)
  • 2 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 cup Milk (dairy)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2In a large bowl, combine the 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Add the 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds and stir everything together until well mixed.
  3. 3Add the 1/2 cup of cold butter to the flour mixture. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. 4Pour in the 1/4 cup of milk and mix with a fork or your hands just until a dough starts to form. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. 5Gently bring the dough together and place it on a lightly floured surface (if you have extra flour, otherwise just use your clean counter). Roll the dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. 6Using a biscuit cutter or a knife, cut out your biscuit shapes. You can re-roll scraps once if needed.
  7. 7Place the cut biscuits onto a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the biscuits smell fragrant.
