Ingredients

  • 1 block Firm Tofu
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Black Peppercorns
  • 2 leaves Bay Leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 4 cups Steamed Rice

Instructions

  1. 1Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes.
  2. 2In a large pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add tofu and brown on all sides.
  3. 3Add soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, peppercorns, bay leaves, brown sugar, and water to the pan.
  4. 4Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cover. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the tofu is deeply flavored.
  5. 5Serve hot over steamed rice.
