Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Flatbread
  • 4 tablespoons Vegan Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Berbere Spice Blend
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

Instructions

  1. 1Tear the 4 pieces of flatbread into small, bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. 2Place a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, which is 350°F (175°C). Add the 4 tablespoons of vegan butter to the skillet and melt it completely.
  3. 3Add the torn flatbread pieces to the melted vegan butter in the skillet. Sauté the flatbread, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes until it is lightly toasted and has a crispy texture.
  4. 4Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of berbere spice blend over the toasted flatbread. Stir well and cook for 1 minute more, until the spices are fragrant.
  5. 5Pour the 1/4 cup of water into the skillet. Stir everything together and let it simmer until the water is absorbed into the flatbread, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. 6Add the 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the skillet and stir to combine.
  7. 7Remove the skillet from the heat. Drizzle the 1 tablespoon of honey over the chechebsa. Serve the vegan chechebsa hot.
