Vegan Bifanas (Portuguese Pork Sandwiches)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Seitan
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 cup White wine
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable broth
  • 1 leaf Bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 rolls Crusty rolls

Instructions

  1. 1Slice the seitan into thin cutlets.
  2. 2In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic, white wine, vegetable broth, bay leaf, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Marinate the seitan in this mixture for at least 15 minutes.
  3. 3Heat the remaining olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute the seitan until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  4. 4Remove the bay leaf. Serve the seitan on crusty rolls, spooning the sauce over the top.
