Ingredients

  • 1 cup Żurek Starter (Sour Rye Flour)
  • 6 cups Water
  • 1 lb Kielbasa Sausage
  • 2 medium Potatoes
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 leaves Bay Leaf
  • 4 berries Allspice Berries
  • 1 teaspoon Marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. 1In a large pot, combine the żurek starter and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. 2Add the kielbasa sausage, diced potatoes, diced onion, minced garlic, bay leaves, allspice berries, marjoram, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3Simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the flavors have melded.
  4. 4Remove the bay leaves and allspice berries before serving.
  5. 5Serve hot with a hard-boiled egg and a dollop of sour cream (optional).
