Ingredients

  • 12 wrappers Lumpia wrappers (spring roll wrappers)
  • 3 medium, sliced Ripe plantains
  • 1 cup, drained Jackfruit in syrup (Langka)
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • For frying Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1Lay one of the 12 Lumpia wrappers flat on a clean surface. Place one slice of the Ripe plantains and a small amount of the drained Jackfruit in syrup (Langka) in the center of the wrapper.
  2. 2Sprinkle the filling with 3 tablespoons of Brown sugar. Fold the left and right sides of the wrapper inward over the filling. Then, starting from the bottom edge, roll the wrapper up tightly to form a spring roll. Lightly dampen the top edge of the wrapper with a little water to seal it closed.
  3. 3Pour enough Vegetable oil into a large skillet or wok to come about 1 inch up the sides. Heat the Vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. 4Carefully place the prepared turon into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the wrappers are golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to turn them gently.
  5. 5Remove the turon from the hot oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Repeat with any remaining turon.
  6. 6Serve the turon warm.
