Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Saba bananas
  • 8 pieces Lumpia wrappers
  • 4 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Jackfruit (langka), sliced
  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the 4 Saba bananas. Slice each banana in half lengthwise.
  2. 2Lay one of the 8 Lumpia wrappers flat on your work surface. Place one half of a Saba banana on the wrapper, near one edge. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and a few slices of the 1/2 cup Jackfruit (langka) over the banana half. Fold the sides of the Lumpia wrapper inward over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the banana end to create a spring roll.
  3. 3Repeat step 2 with the remaining banana halves, brown sugar, jackfruit, and Lumpia wrappers until all are used.
  4. 4Pour the 1/4 cup Coconut oil into a 10-inch skillet. Heat the coconut oil over medium heat until it shimmers. This is approximately 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Carefully place the rolled turon into the hot coconut oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the turon for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy all over. The total frying time will be about 6-9 minutes.
  6. 6Remove the cooked turon from the skillet using tongs. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve the turon warm.
