Ingredients

  • 1 lb Korean Rice Cakes (Tteok)
  • 2 tbsp Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste)
  • 1 tbsp Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes)
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 cups Vegetable Broth
  • 2 stalks Green Onions
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Sesame Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1In a large pot or pan, combine the 2 tbsp Gochujang, 1 tbsp Gochugaru, 2 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tbsp Sugar, 2 cloves minced Garlic, and 2 cups Vegetable Broth. Stir these ingredients together until they are well combined.
  2. 2Place the pot over medium heat and bring the sauce mixture to a simmer. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  3. 3Add the 1 lb Korean Rice Cakes to the simmering sauce. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice cakes are soft and chewy and the sauce has thickened to your liking. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
  4. 4While the rice cakes are cooking, thinly slice the 2 stalks of Green Onions.
  5. 5Once the rice cakes are cooked and the sauce has thickened, stir in the sliced green onions and the 1 tsp Sesame Oil.
  6. 6Serve the Tteokbokki hot, garnished with the 1 tsp Sesame Seeds.
