Ingredients

  • 2 large Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 0.5 tsp Five Spice Powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 0.25 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2Carefully peel the 2 large sweet potatoes. On a cutting board, cut each sweet potato lengthwise into 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick slices, then cut these slices into 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) wide fries, aiming for pieces about 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) long.
  3. 3In a large mixing bowl, combine the cut sweet potato fries with the 2 tbsp of olive oil, 0.5 tsp of five spice powder, 0.5 tsp of salt, 1 tbsp of cornstarch, and 0.25 tsp of garlic powder. Toss everything together until the fries are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. 4Spread the seasoned sweet potato fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap. This helps them crisp evenly.
  5. 5Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. After 10 to 12 minutes, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and use a spatula to flip all the fries. Continue baking until the fries are golden brown and crispy to the touch.
  6. 6Serve the Taiwanese Sweet Potato Fries immediately while they are still warm and crispy.
