Ingredients

  • about 450 g Swiss sausage
  • 2 medium Apples
  • 1 medium Red onion
  • 1/2 cup Dairy-free mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the grill to medium heat, aiming for a temperature between about 190°C and about 230°C (190°C to 230°C).
  2. 2Prepare the skewer ingredients: First, cut the about 450 g Swiss sausage into 2.54 cm pieces. Next, cut the 2 medium apples into 2.54 cm chunks, making sure to remove the core from each apple. Then, cut the 1 medium red onion into 2.54 cm wedges. Carefully thread the 2.54 cm sausage pieces, 2.54 cm apple chunks, and 2.54 cm red onion wedges onto skewers, alternating the ingredients until the skewers are full.
  3. 3Place the loaded skewers directly onto the preheated grill. Cook the skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking. The skewers are done when the about 450 g Swiss sausage is cooked through and has a nice browned color, the 2 medium apples are tender when poked with a fork, and the internal temperature of the sausage reaches 71°C.
  4. 4While the skewers are grilling, prepare the dairy-free mustard dip. In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 cup dairy-free mayonnaise, 2 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp maple syrup, and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. Whisk these ingredients together until the dip is smooth and creamy.
  5. 5Once the skewers are cooked to completion, carefully remove them from the grill. Serve the hot Swiss sausage and apple skewers immediately with the prepared dairy-free mustard dip on the side.
