Ingredients

  • 1 lb Swiss Sausage (Cervelat)
  • 2 medium Apples
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your grill to medium heat, which is about 350-400°F (175-200°C).
  2. 2In a small bowl, whisk together the 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil until well combined. This is your glaze.
  3. 3Cut the 2 medium apples into 1-inch chunks. Cut the 1 lb Swiss sausage into 1-inch thick slices.
  4. 4Thread the sausage slices and apple chunks alternately onto skewers. You can use metal skewers or wooden skewers that have been soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  5. 5Brush the skewers generously with the maple-mustard glaze you made.
  6. 6Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for 10-15 minutes, turning them every few minutes so all sides cook evenly. Continue brushing with the glaze during the last few minutes of grilling. The sausage is done when it is heated through and has a nice browned color, and the apples are tender and slightly caramelized. The internal temperature of the sausage should reach 160°F (71°C).
  7. 7Remove the skewers from the grill and serve them immediately.
