Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 1/2 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 2 medium Avocado
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 12 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 cup Salsa

Instructions

  1. 1Place a 12-inch skillet over medium heat (350°F / 175°C). Add the 1 lb of ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is browned all over, about 8-10 minutes. Carefully drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  2. 2Add the 1/2 medium onion, diced into 1/4-inch pieces, and the 2 cloves of garlic, minced, to the skillet with the browned turkey. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. 3Stir the 1 tbsp of chili powder and 1 tsp of cumin into the turkey and onion mixture. Cook for 1 minute more, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant.
  4. 4While the turkey mixture cooks, place the 2 medium avocados in a medium bowl. Add the 1 tbsp of lime juice. Mash the avocado and lime juice together with a fork until mostly smooth, with a few small chunks remaining. Season with salt if desired, though the salsa will add saltiness.
  5. 5Spoon the cooked turkey mixture evenly into the 12 leaves of lettuce. Top each lettuce wrap with a generous dollop of the mashed avocado mixture and about 1 tbsp of the 1/2 cup of salsa.
  6. 6Serve the Spicy Turkey and Avocado Lettuce Wraps immediately.
