Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Chickpea Flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Berbere Spice Blend
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, whisk together chickpea flour, berbere spice blend, salt, and water until smooth.
  2. 2Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. 3Add onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and sauté until fragrant and softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. 4Pour the chickpea flour mixture into the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. 5Let the mixture cool slightly, then shape it into small bite-sized balls or patties.
  6. 6Heat a little more oil in the skillet and cook the chickpea bites until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  7. 7Serve warm as a snack or appetizer.
