Ingredients

  • 8 Fresh Sardines (cleaned)
  • 2 tbsp Coarse Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil (for drizzling)
  • Lemon Wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, which is about 400-450°F (200-230°C).
  2. 2Gently rinse the 8 fresh sardines under cold running water. Pat them completely dry with paper towels. This helps the salt stick and the skin get crispy.
  3. 3Place the dried sardines on a clean surface and sprinkle them generously all over with the 2 tbsp of coarse sea salt.
  4. 4Carefully place the salted sardines onto the preheated grill. Grill for 5 to 7 minutes per side. Look for the skin to be crispy and the fish to be opaque all the way through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  5. 5Once cooked, remove the sardines from the grill. Drizzle them with the 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  6. 6Serve the Sardinhas Assadas immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
