Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh sardines
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 medium Lemon
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Clean the 1 lb fresh sardines and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Mince the 2 cloves garlic. Cut the 1 medium lemon in half and slice one half into wedges for serving; set the other half aside.
  2. 2In a small bowl, combine the 2 tbsp olive oil, the minced garlic, the 0.5 tsp salt, and the 0.25 tsp black pepper. Stir well to create a marinade.
  3. 3Brush both sides of the 1 lb fresh sardines generously with the olive oil mixture. Let them sit for about 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. 4Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. This is typically around 400-450°F (200-230°C). Make sure the grill grates are clean.
  5. 5Place the 1 lb fresh sardines on the preheated grill. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side. The sardines are cooked when they are opaque throughout and flake easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  6. 6Carefully remove the 1 lb fresh sardines from the grill.
  7. 7Serve the Sardinhas Assadas immediately with the reserved lemon wedges on the side.
