Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp Instant Yeast
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, measure and combine 2 cups of All-Purpose Flour, 1/4 cup of Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp of Instant Yeast, and 1/4 tsp of Nutmeg.
  2. 2Gradually add 1 cup of Warm Water to the dry ingredients while mixing until you have a smooth batter. The batter should be thick but pourable.
  3. 3Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and place it in a warm, draft-free spot for 1 hour. The batter should increase in volume and roughly double in size.
  4. 4Pour 2 cups of Vegetable Oil into a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep frying pan. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Carefully spoon small portions of the batter into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot; fry in batches. Fry for about 3-5 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the puff puff are golden brown and puffed up.
  6. 6Using a slotted spoon, remove the puff puff from the hot oil. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. 7Serve the puff puff warm.
