Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup Mashed ripe banana
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of instant yeast, and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg.
  2. 2Add the 1/2 cup of mashed ripe banana and 1 cup of warm water to the bowl. Mix everything together with a spoon or whisk until you have a smooth batter with no lumps.
  3. 3Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Place the bowl in a warm spot and let the batter rise for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. 4Pour 2 cups of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or a medium-sized heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Carefully drop small spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. You can use two spoons or your lightly oiled hands to do this. Do not overcrowd the pot; fry in batches if needed.
  6. 6Fry the puff puff for about 5 to 7 minutes, turning them occasionally with a slotted spoon, until they are golden brown all over and puffed up. They should sound light and hollow when tapped.
  7. 7Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked puff puff from the hot oil. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  8. 8Serve the puff puff warm.
