  • 150 g Unsalted butter
  • 100 g Sour cream
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 100 g Grated cheese (e.g., Emmental)
  • 1 large Egg

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2In a large bowl, combine 300g of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. 3Add 150g of unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. 4Add 100g of sour cream, 1 large egg yolk, and 100g of grated cheese to the bowl. Mix everything together until a dough just starts to form.
  5. 5On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. 6Use a biscuit cutter or a knife to cut out small circles or squares from the dough. Place the cut-out biscuits onto a baking sheet.
  7. 7In a small bowl, beat 1 large egg until it is well mixed. Brush the tops of the biscuits with the beaten egg.
  8. 8Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and puffed up.
