Ploughman's Scones with Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • 225 g Self-Raising Flour
  • 50 g Cold Butter
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 75 g Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 tablespoons Apple Butter

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2In a large bowl, rub the cold butter into the self-raising flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. 3Stir in the grated cheddar cheese, chopped chives, mustard powder, and salt.
  4. 4Gradually add the milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. 5Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 2cm (¾ inch) thick round.
  6. 6Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut out scones.
  7. 7Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. 8Serve warm with apple butter.
