Ingredients

  • 4 medium Ripe Bananas
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Rice Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the 4 medium ripe bananas and cut them in half lengthwise or into slices.
  2. 2In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup rice flour, and 2 tablespoons sugar.
  3. 3Add the 1/2 cup water and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and whisk until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. The batter should be thin enough to coat the bananas but not so thick that it becomes heavy.
  4. 4Pour the 2 cups of vegetable oil into a large, heavy-bottomed pot or wok and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Dip each banana piece into the batter, making sure it is fully coated on all sides.
  6. 6Carefully place the battered banana pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 3 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the batter is golden brown and crispy. You should hear a gentle sizzle as they fry.
  7. 7Using a slotted spoon or spider strainer, remove the fried bananas from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  8. 8Serve the Pisang Goreng hot.
