Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1/2 Bell pepper (green)
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 8 oz can Tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup Raisins
  • 1/4 cup Olives (stuffed with pimientos)
  • 1 tablespoon Capers
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
  2. 2Drain off any excess fat.
  3. 3Add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. 4Stir in tomato sauce, raisins, olives, capers, cumin, oregano, and bay leaf.
  5. 5Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. 6Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until flavors have melded.
  7. 7Remove bay leaf before serving. Serve hot with white rice and fried plantains.
