Ingredients

  • 1 lb Green Beans
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Aquafaba
  • 1/2 cup Cold Water
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. 1Wash and trim the 1 lb of green beans. Make sure they are dry.
  2. 2In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of aquafaba, 1/2 cup of cold water, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt until the batter is smooth and there are no lumps.
  3. 3Pour the 2 cups of vegetable oil into a large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. 4Dip a few of the trimmed green beans into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Carefully place the battered green beans into the hot 2 cups of vegetable oil. Do not overcrowd the pot.
  5. 5Fry the green beans for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You will see them float to the surface and hear a gentle sizzle.
  6. 6Using a slotted spoon or spider strainer, carefully remove the fried green beans from the hot oil. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. 7Serve the Peixinhos da Horta immediately while they are hot and crispy.
