Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Dashi stock
  • 1 large Egg
  • 4 cups Shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup Cooked shrimp
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup Okonomiyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup Japanese mayonnaise (Kewpie)
  • 2 tablespoons Bonito flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Aonori seaweed flakes

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, whisk together flour, dashi stock, and egg until smooth.
  2. 2Add shredded cabbage, cooked shrimp (or other protein), and chopped green onions to the batter. Mix well.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  4. 4Pour 1/4 of the batter onto the hot skillet and spread into a circular shape.
  5. 5Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. 6Transfer the okonomiyaki to a plate and top with okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and aonori seaweed flakes (if using).
