Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1/4 cup Urad dal flour
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix together the rice flour, urad dal flour, asafoetida, cumin seeds, and salt.
  2. 2Gradually add water to form a smooth, pliable dough.
  3. 3Fit a murukku press with a star-shaped disc.
  4. 4Fill the press with the dough and press out spirals onto a greased surface or parchment paper.
  5. 5Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. 6Carefully slide the murukku spirals into the hot oil.
  7. 7Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. 8Remove the murukku and drain on paper towels. Store in an airtight container.
