Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, asafoetida, chili powder, and salt.
  2. 2Gradually add water, mixing until a smooth, pliable dough forms.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat.
  4. 4Load the dough into a murukku press with a star-shaped nozzle.
  5. 5Press the dough directly into the hot oil in a circular motion to form the murukku spirals.
  6. 6Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7Remove the murukku from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8Let cool completely before serving.
