Manapua (Steamed Buns - Gluten-Free)

Hawaiian steamed buns filled with char siu pork. This recipe uses gluten-free flour blend and baking powder for a light and fluffy texture.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Gluten-free flour blend
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1.5 lbs Char siu pork

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine gluten-free flour blend, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. 2Add warm water and oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. 4Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle.
  5. 5Place char siu pork in the center of each circle. Bring the edges of the dough together and pinch to seal.
  6. 6Place the buns on parchment paper-lined steamer baskets.
  7. 7Steam for 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are cooked through.
