Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1/2 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 4 cups Cooked rice
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the 1 lb of ground beef, 1/2 medium onion (finely diced), 2 cloves of garlic (minced), 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, then divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties, about 1/2-inch thick.
  2. 2Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C). Add the hamburger patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and they are browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  3. 3In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium (about 350°F / 175°C). Crack the 4 large eggs into the skillet, being careful not to break the yolks. Cook for 2-4 minutes, or until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your preference. Remove the eggs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4In a medium saucepan, whisk together the 2 cups of beef broth and 2 tbsp gluten-free all-purpose flour until smooth. Place the saucepan over medium heat (about 350°F / 175°C) and bring to a simmer, whisking constantly. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. 5Stir the 2 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce into the thickened gravy. Continue to simmer for 1 minute more, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  6. 6To assemble, place 1 cup of cooked rice into each of 4 bowls. Top each bowl of rice with one hamburger patty, one fried egg, and then spoon a generous amount of the brown gravy over everything.
