Khachapuri Adjaruli (Georgian Cheese Boat)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Instant Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Warm Water
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. 2Add warm water and olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. 5Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  6. 6Divide the dough into 2 equal pieces.
  7. 7Roll each piece of dough into an oval shape.
  8. 8Pinch the ends of the oval to form a boat shape.
  9. 9Mix mozzarella and feta cheese together.
  10. 10Fill the boats with the cheese mixture.
  11. 11Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  12. 12Remove from oven and crack an egg into the center of each boat.
  13. 13Place a pat of butter on top of the egg.
  14. 14Bake for 2-3 minutes more, or until the egg white is set but the yolk is still runny.
  15. 15Serve immediately.
