Keto Bitterballen (Dutch Fried Meatballs) with Mustard

A keto-friendly version of the famous Dutch snack, Bitterballen. These small, crispy meatballs are made with almond flour and served with mustard. Dairy free!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Gelatin powder
  • 1 cup Cooked beef (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Almond flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Pork rinds (crushed)
  • 1 cup Avocado oil (for frying)
  • 2 tbsp Mustard (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, heat beef broth and dissolve gelatin powder. Let it cool slightly.
  2. 2In a bowl, combine shredded beef, almond flour, egg, chopped onion, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3Pour the gelatin mixture into the bowl and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  4. 4Roll the mixture into small balls.
  5. 5Coat each ball with crushed pork rinds.
  6. 6Heat avocado oil in a deep fryer or large pan.
  7. 7Fry the bitterballen until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. 8Serve hot with mustard.
