Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.5 cup Coconut Milk
  • 0.25 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cardamom
  • 1 tsp Instant Yeast
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 0.5 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Flakes

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cardamom, and instant yeast.
  2. 2Warm coconut milk slightly and add it to the dry ingredients. Mix well to form a dough.
  3. 3Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. 5Roll out the dough and cut into diamond or square shapes.
  6. 6Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  7. 7Fry the mahamri until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. 8Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. 9To make the glaze, mix powdered sugar with a small amount of coconut milk until it forms a smooth paste.
  10. 10Dip the mahamri in the coconut glaze and sprinkle with coconut flakes.
  11. 11Serve warm.
