Hungarian Fisherman's Soup (Halászlé) - Gluten & Soy Free

A spicy and flavorful fish soup, traditionally made with mixed river fish and plenty of paprika. This version is gluten-free and soy-free.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Mixed Fish (Cod, Salmon, Halibut)
  • 2 large Onion
  • 4 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Paprika
  • 1 tsp Hot Paprika
  • 8 cups Fish Broth
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.75 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Cut the fish into 1-inch pieces. Set aside.
  2. 2Dice onions. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in tomato paste, sweet paprika, and hot paprika. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. 4Pour in fish broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. 5Add the fish to the pot and cook until the fish is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. 6Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
