Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Popcorn kernels
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Horopito spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1Place a large pot with a lid on the stove over medium heat. Add the 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to the pot. Heat the oil until it shimmers, which should take about 1-2 minutes. This is approximately 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Carefully add the 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels to the hot coconut oil. Immediately cover the pot with the lid.
  3. 3Cook the popcorn, shaking the pot gently every 30 seconds to prevent burning. Listen for the popping sounds. When the popping slows to about one pop every 2-3 seconds, the popcorn is ready. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. 4Remove the pot from the heat. Carefully pour the freshly popped popcorn into a large bowl.
  5. 5Sprinkle the 1/2 teaspoon of Horopito spice and the 1/4 teaspoon of salt over the popcorn.
  6. 6Toss the popcorn gently with your hands or a large spoon until the spice and salt are evenly distributed over all the kernels.
  7. 7Serve the Horopito-Spiced Popcorn immediately for the best flavor and texture.
