Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, asafoetida, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, and salt.
  2. 2Gradually add water, mixing well until a smooth and pliable dough forms.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat.
  4. 4Fill a murukku press with the dough. Press the dough into hot oil in circular motions to form murukku.
  5. 5Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. 6Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
