Ingredients

  • 1 lb Baby Potatoes
  • 4 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice Syrup (or Corn Syrup)
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Sesame Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the 4 tbsp Soy Sauce, 2 tbsp Sugar, 1 tbsp Rice Syrup (or Corn Syrup), 1 tsp Sesame Oil, and 1/2 cup Water. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. 2Add the 1 lb Baby Potatoes to the pot with the sauce mixture. Make sure the potatoes are mostly submerged.
  3. 3Place the pot over medium heat and bring the liquid to a boil. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  4. 4Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the potatoes from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  5. 5Check the potatoes for tenderness by piercing them with a fork. They should be easily pierced and feel soft. The sauce should also have thickened slightly.
  6. 6Remove the pot from the heat. Sprinkle the 1 tsp Sesame Seeds over the potatoes.
  7. 7Serve the Gamja Jorim warm as a side dish or snack.
