Ingredients

  • 1 lb Chicken wings
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger, minced
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1Place a 12-inch skillet or a large heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Add the 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  2. 2Add the 1/4 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water to the skillet. Cook, swirling the pan constantly, until the sugar melts and turns a deep golden brown color, about 5-8 minutes. Be careful as the mixture will be very hot.
  3. 3Carefully add the 1 lb of chicken wings to the hot caramel. Stir the wings to coat them evenly in the caramel sauce.
  4. 4Add the 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of minced ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to the skillet. Stir everything together well to combine.
  5. 5Reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet or pot and let the chicken wings simmer for 25-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. The chicken wings are cooked through when they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  6. 6Serve the Gà Roti immediately.
