Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dried red peppers
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Berbere spice blend
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 slices Dairy-free bread

Instructions

  1. 1Soak dried red peppers in hot water for 30 minutes to soften.
  2. 2Drain the peppers and remove seeds (for less spice) or leave them in (for more spice).
  3. 3In a food processor, combine soaked red peppers, garlic, ginger, and berbere spice blend. Process until a smooth paste forms.
  4. 4In a pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the red pepper paste and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the paste darkens and thickens.
  5. 5Season with salt to taste. Serve the paste spread on dairy-free bread.
