Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dried Fava Beans
  • 0.5 medium Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 cup Fresh Parsley
  • 0.25 cup Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 0.5 tsp Coriander
  • 0.5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 0.75 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 4 Pita Bread
  • 0.5 cup Tahini Sauce
  • 0.5 cup Vegetables

Instructions

  1. 1Drain the soaked fava beans and place them in a food processor.
  2. 2Add chopped onion, minced garlic, fresh parsley, fresh cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper to the food processor.
  3. 3Process until the mixture is finely ground but still slightly coarse.
  4. 4Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5Shape the falafel mixture into small patties or balls.
  6. 6Carefully drop the falafel into the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7Remove the falafel with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8Serve the falafel in pita bread with tahini sauce and your favorite vegetables.
