Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Semolina Flour
  • 1 softened Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons Rose Water
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Blossom Water
  • 1 pound Date Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • For dusting as needed Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and semolina flour.
  2. 2Add softened butter and powdered sugar. Mix well until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. 3Add applesauce, rose water, and orange blossom water. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. 5In a separate bowl, combine date paste, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Mix well.
  6. 6Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. 7Roll out the dough and cut into circles using a cookie cutter. Place a small amount of date filling in the center of each circle.
  8. 8Fold the dough over the filling and shape into desired shapes.
  9. 9Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  10. 10Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar.
