Ingredients

  • 1 cup Semolina
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Pine nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. 2Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. 3Add semolina and pine nuts (if using). Cook, stirring constantly, until the semolina is golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
  4. 4Carefully pour the sugar syrup into the skillet. Be careful, as it will splatter.
  5. 5Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the semolina has absorbed all the syrup and the halva pulls away from the sides of the skillet.
  6. 6Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
