Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoons Finely ground Turkish coffee
  • 1 teaspoon Date syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon Cardamom

Instructions

  1. 1In a small cezve or saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup of water, 2 teaspoons of finely ground Turkish coffee, 1 teaspoon of date syrup, and 1/8 teaspoon of cardamom.
  2. 2Place the cezve or saucepan over low heat. Stir gently for about 30 seconds until the coffee grounds and date syrup are dissolved. The heat should be around 200°F (93°C).
  3. 3Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, but do not let it boil. Watch for a foam to start forming on the surface. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  4. 4As soon as the foam rises to the top, carefully remove the cezve or saucepan from the heat. Let the foam settle slightly for about 10 seconds.
  5. 5Return the cezve or saucepan to the low heat for a few seconds until the foam rises again. Repeat this process of removing from heat and returning for a few seconds 2 more times. This will create a rich foam and should take a total of 1-2 minutes.
  6. 6Carefully pour the coffee into a small Turkish coffee cup. Allow the coffee grounds to settle at the bottom of the cup before serving immediately.
