Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Vegan Butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.75 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 medium Apples, peeled and sliced
  • 0.5 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3Cut in the cold, cubed vegan butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. 4Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. 5In a separate bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss well to coat.
  6. 6Spread the apple filling evenly over the crust.
  7. 7Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apple filling.
  8. 8Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  9. 9Let cool slightly before serving. Best served warm.
